Danganronpa 2 Goodbye Despair. (Review)

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair does not have so many new concepts, but the game knows how to use it as an advantage. It’s a Dejavu of the most charming kind.

Danganronpa 2 begins with Hajime Hinata, a high school student who just joined Hope’s Peak Academy, a school known for training the nation’s top pupils. On the first day at school, Hajime somehow finds himself stuck in a beautiful tropical island together with other 15 classmates as a part of a “school trip”, and here is how his nightmare begins…

Jabberwock, the sanguinary island:

The context of the game was set in the Jabberwock island where Monokuma, the devil teddy bear, use its own deep dark evil magic to keep 16 students trapping on the island.  There are plenty of resources here, enough for the students to live comfortably. However, they will be trapped there forever unless they follow Monokuma’s orders…. to kill each other without getting caught.

This is a part of the Battle Royal game of Monokuma, the devil bear, and this is also the only way our students could escape from the island.

Like the predecessor, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair will be divided into several chapters, and each chapter has 03 parts. There are 2 main sections in game including Daily Life and Deadly life.

During the Daily Life section, you will be able to explore the island and building relationship with your classmates. In order to build a relationship, you need to spend time with these characters and giving them presents, you will get along with your classmates. Each student in the class is the “Best” in their own field.

In Deadly Life sections, you will need to act like a detective in order to search through crime scenes for clues, evidences and talking with your classmates.

The purpose of these actions is to find clues about a vicious murder. Every chapter will be ended up with a Class Trial, where the surviving students must be gathering together to discover who is the real killer amongst them.

If you choose correctly, and the killer is punished with execution. However, assume wrongly, will danger to the life of everyone remaining.

All of the characters act a certain way: some of them are lousy, meaning, some of them are unsure or sweet. The purpose of this is to confuse the player and that’s why you will need to decide very carefully. Either they’re victims or killers, very unpredictable.

This is a very tricky game as it’s skilfully playing with emotions, toying with the player’s expectations of what is possible within its world.

The more you play through the game, the more pieces of the mysteries will come together.Your job is to guide Hajime through tension and raw emotion to uncover the shocking truth behind.
